Why Bar None Lives in the Fridge (and What That Says About Our Standards)

Let’s be honest—when most people spot our bars in the fridge, they’re intrigued. Some are confused. Others say, “Oh, that’s clever.” And a few simply ask:

“Wait… why the fridge?”

The short answer? Because our bars are real food.

The longer answer? Because real food deserves real preservation—something that doesn’t rely on heat or chemicals.

That’s where HPP (High-Pressure Processing) comes in. It’s a method that allows us to keep our bars fresh and safe while protecting all the nutrients, flavour, and texture that makes them worth eating in the first place.

What is HPP, Exactly?

After each Bar None bar is sealed, it takes a little ride in a chamber filled with cold water. Then it’s gently—but powerfully—pressurized. In case you're wondering, we’re talking up to 87,000 psi (that’s more pressure than the bottom of the Mariana Trench).

This pressure helps eliminate harmful bacteria and microbes without using heat. It doesn’t cook or change the bar in any way. It just makes it safer and keeps it fresher longer.

Why does this matter? Heat pasteurization (used in most shelf-stable snacks) can strip food of delicate nutrients and mess with the flavour and texture.

With HPP, we skip all that. No damage. No flavour fade. No weird aftertaste. Just real ingredients, kept fresh by innovative science.

Shelf-Stable Bars vs. Cold-Pressed Freshness

Shelf-stable bars are made to last. But that comes at a cost.

Most are heat-treated, filled with preservatives, and held together with binders or emulsifiers. These kinds of bars sit on shelves for a year (or two), often tasting like cardboard dressed up in sugar.

We wanted something different.

Bar None bars are:

  • Cold-pressed, not heat-treated.

  • Preserved using pressure, not preservatives.

  • Made with real ingredients that stay nutrient-rich.

  • Designed to taste fresh. Not engineered to last forever.

So yes, we live in the fridge. But it’s where we belong.

Why We Chose HPP for Bar None

We didn’t set out to make a snack bar that looked healthy but wasn't. We set out to create something that actually is. Something that honours the quality of its ingredients.

HPP lets us do that. It keeps the vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients intact. It locks in flavour without adding anything artificial. It extends shelf life just enough to make it convenient, but not so much that the bar forgets it’s food.

And even better? Our bars stay good for 24 hours out of the fridge, so you can grab one in the morning, toss it in your bag, and eat it when the hunger hits.

Real Food Deserves Better Tech

The snack aisle is full of products designed to survive the apocalypse. But we're not here for forever food.

We’re here for snacks that respect your body, your time, and your taste buds.

That’s why Bar None bars live in the fridge—because that’s where real food belongs.

Bar None is cold-pressed, fridge-fresh, and redefining what a snack bar can be.
